Just acquired a beautiful new turquoise 66 convertible with a new convertible power top. When putting the top up, the top seems to come about an inch shy of seating correctly on the chrome piece on top of the windshield. The top needs to be another inch forward. The catch hooks do not hook into the windshield properly, and there is a gap between the top and the windows. It appears that the frame/top are just not quite folding out all the way. I've tried parking in the warm sun with the top up, hoping the fabric would stretch a bit, and the top would settle onto the windshield, but not the case.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is there anywhere i can find information on how to properly fit the top and adjust it to mate to the windshield. Thanks for any help.

i dont recall the specs, but often times the cylinders that raise and lower the top get replaced with ones that are too short and cause the very problem you are having. check with larry's tbird and mustang as i believe they carry the right parts.

I had the same problem with mine after replacing the lift cylinders with aftermarket ones. Replacing those with (supposedly) NOS one's did the trick
