It doesn't want to work alot of times and you have to tap it to get it working.... now my question is, Like a RC car motor when the motor gets gunk inside you clean the Communicator & brushes with a peice of emery, can you do the same for a top motor clean the Comm. Instead of buying a new one? i ask this cause 1. they are expencive and 2. it is only 1 1/2 old. And is there instruction on how to clean the comm & brushes?

Yes, you can take it apart and clean/sand the brushes. I had the same problem, and now it works like a champ.

Thanks, My second ? is can i just take it out and make a manual top? without the cylinders on it wouldn't it move up and down easily? I mean the top motor is just a convenient way to do it and not a nessesity right.

The top can be put up and down manually yes, but it's heavy.

If you are tight on cash you can look on ebay for a Mustang convertible top motor. The motor hasn't changed since the 1965 model. You would only have to change the connector to get it to work
