Hey guys,
My top was in DESPARATE need of replacement, and after reading all the 'don't do it yourself, take it to a shop' threads, I chickened out and just got a whole top, frame, glass, cylinders, and all, from a yard from a 93 Stang for $200- headliner and all- so, I swapped it out, bled the hydraulic system, and it goes up/down OK, but now when it closes, it is off at the front where the header seal is by about 2" to the right. It's like I put the top on crooked- I tried adjusting positively all bolts I could find, but cannot make any bit of difference at the front of the frame. If i force it, it will close, but then the header seal doesn't seal- I can see light through it- So, all in all, it's got tons of adjustments that I need to do to get my car drivable again, and I need serious help. I read that light adjustment and troubleshooting page already, but could not find where the allen screws were to adjust length, etc. Think that may be the problem. So anyways, where else can I adjust it for length, etc? Of course, the Hayne's is next to worthless for this, as it is for a lot of projects like this. I worked on this for like 3 hours yesterday, and it still does not work! GRR I'm getting real frustrated. Also, my driver side window does not line up with the rear quarter glass- there's like a 1/2" gap between them now. It's almost like the window is sticking out away from the car too far- GRRR PLEASE HELP!!

Man I wish I could help...Maybe the top you got from the wrecker is no good? Maybe you can put your old one on with parts from the new one? Sorry can't help you anymore...at least I gave you a bump!

Come on, somebody's got to know out there!!! I'm REALLY REALLY desparate. Getting ready to just take it somewhere. I HATE being frustrated to the point of that but..

buddy-I think I know the problem

1990 and newer verts have a lower bottem frame structure.
86 thru 89 top sits a little higher than the 90's and above.

if you do a search on the different years-you can cleary see what I am speaking about.

Also, if you look in catalogs for tops it will show different year options.

I am not sure how to fix that besides getting a older top.

I am not good at explaining stuff so please ask detailed questions if you dont understand.

gruvee makes a good point. I also think that short of doing some serious mod work ... you might have to get an older top.

well I dont think that the junk yard will take it back. I am sure you can sell the top on here or ebay.
I would gettho rig something up-Like take another headliner and connect it to the one that is on there now. I think only you would notice it?

Man, it's soooo close to fitting and I really like the headliner. The header seal isn't in teh right place or something. It's not sealing at all i nthe front. Like the frame hits the windshield frame before the seal does or something.
