Hey, been gone a while, finally got everything fixed up. I have a new problem now though. If I'm on the highway cruising at 70ish, I hear a very loud whooshing sound coming from where the top of the window shield connects with the convertible top. Sometimes, the passenger side latch actually comes loose and the top comes off! As you can guess, this is pretty dangerous and I need to get it sorted out quickly. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

sometimes its just your hooks. There adjustable you turn them one way and they get tighter.

Yup thats why they are threaded. To take up a small amount of slack and wear. I would go easy on the turning though maybe 2 turns max. You want the handle to be tight just before it goes into the slot in the roof beam. Does that make sense? Should be sort of hard once it gets say an inch or so from the beam then it will go over center and lock. If you wing the J bolt to much you can break the bolt or the windshield frame where it latches.

I'm sure you already know this but just in case you dont, when you latch the top down, make sure you dont pull on the handle. Pull on the center part that kind of dips down. Its much sturdier and will not bend. I learned this the hard way and had to get it fixed. Oh and check craigslist for the latch. I saw a couple on the seattle craigslist. They might be willing to ship
