I just purchased a 1994 GT Convertible that had been sitting for 2 years in the Ariz.ona Heat. Obviously their is dry rot .

Can a person rebulit the piston or just have to break down and buy New Ones.??

If I need to buy New Ones, any Idea where I might find the least expensive, yet good Piston for Convertile top..
Thanks and Happy 4 Of July

In my experience with the top pistons, all on classic mustangs, they are not rebuildable. I guess it depends on where it is leaking from. Mine have been leaking from the top seal where the pushrod goes into the cylinder because the chrome on the pushrod as corroded some and damaged the seal. If there is nothing wrong with the pushrod, i.e. corrosion, physical damage, you might be able to have the top seal replaced but I can't be sure since I have never had it done. If it leaking from the cylinder housing then I would say a new or used cylinder would be in order.

There is no fix for them. They run around $135.00 to $140.00 each. It is recomended to replace both at the same time.....because of the pressure differents you would have on a new vs. old cylinder. I bounght a used one for $60 last year and it had a 90 day warranty.

Still working just fine.
