I have a 94 Mustang GT convertible and I want to install two 10" infinity's I already have. I want them in a sealed box for best sound quality. Here's my question: Where and how should I mount the box? Can I install them in the trunk and simply open up the basin where the convert top goes? Is the glass window going to be a problem? Will the bass get from the trunk to me through the top and the leather top cover I have. I really dont want to loose the back seats by installing the box there. I think it will take away from the fun of the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You CANT block the place where the window comes down, if you do, the top will not go down right and you could really mess something up. To be on the safe side, leave in the plastic carpeted panel, that way you will know the limit on how far you can go back without messing anything up. I tried 3 different setups in my vert and made three different sealed boxes with mdf and none of them were good in the trunk. It was either too many rattles, or not enough space, there was always something wrong. I ended up putting the sub in the spare tire well and I made a fiberglass enclosure. Thats the best way to put a sub in the trunk of a vert in my opinion...

I wasnt gonna remove the panel, I was gonna cut square vents towards the sides of where the glass comes down. Then I was gonna reinforce the plastic panel so it won't rattle. Then put a box in the trunk and face it forwards a few inches away.

I built mine with 2 10's. The back part of my box slopes down, to accomodate the area for the convertible top. When we built it, we kept the top down, so we knew how far we could go back. I think it sounds great, and would build it this way again. If you have any specific questions, drop me a line..

If you cant hear that from where you are sitting, something aint workin!

I doubt you would see a substantial difference by altering the car in any way. A convertible is never going to be quite as sealed for good trunk bass as a coupe anyways.

I used to have a z28 convert with 2 JL 10s in the trunk. Sometimes I would just let the rear seat down for a tiny bit more sound. I thought you could hear a difference there but in reality you probably couldnt. It t just dosent make a noticable difference for me.
