How do I convert my 83 headlights to the 87 lights? I put the newer front clip on the car and need to somehow splice some wires. Any help is appreciated.

No it wont fit up or line up. The 83 cars were completely different from 79-82 and 84-93. If you do manage to make it line up the car will probably spontaneously combust. That is a fact

Print out wiring diagram. Yes it can be done. I forgot how to get high/low beams but studing wiring diagram will give you the answers.

Recommend you solder all connections and use shrink wrap to hide exposed hot areas of wire you soldered. You will need the bulb connectors from another car unless you want to pay for them new from 5.0resto

Thank you to those of you who have posted legitimate replies, or at least tried to.
Thanks too for the wiring diagrams.

It can be done, if you want to, after you're done, set the 83 frontend on fire, take a pic and post it on here.

still dont understand why people do this...there is no shortage of decent 87+ cars out there, there IS however a severe shortage of 4-eyed cars. they are under appreciated to begin with, more left to rot in favor of the 87+ cars and even more lost to people like you who convert them. sell the 4-eye to someone who will appreciate it and buy an 87+...especially because you need to have hacked wires, change out all the bodyside trim (and rear bumper cover to match the trim) and you still have the carbed 175hp non roller cast exhaust manifold 5.0 and old style interior. save the car and save yourself the work.

I think it happens when people want one thing but have another....I got my car "a 85" and The guy i got it from had converted it half-butted and I was young and did'nt know what i was getting my self into, There is no good way to do the conversion, almost every body panel has to be changed, the wiring for the head lights has to be almost custom done with relays if you want it to light for anything, and your stuff with this half-stang that you hate cuz it's not right, it best to just get what you want, if you want a aero buy one, even a junk 4 eye can go for atleast 1000 bucks and more if it's in at least ok shape, and then just save, i see v8 aeros go for 1200-2400 all the time, not that i think this guy is gonna come back and read this but As someone who is suffering cuz someone eles hacked up a car and I decided to finish it instead of take it back, I take every chance I get to warn people about how bad of a idea it is

good point in that you are stuck with a car you hate because its not right...no matter what you do, if you dont like the old fox, you are stuck because its almost impossible to properly convert everything.

if anyone is interested i know of a 91 GT that needs some love but runs and drives fine, not the prettiest car in the world but its all original and can be had for $800 bucks.

1) I am just finishing a conversion someone else already started. The nose, rear and moldings were already converted. I just have to finish the interior and splice the headlight wires. I also have an engine to drop in.
2) I got what I wanted. A mustang with t-tops and a carburator. The car does not have to go through the strict emissions of newer years. Besides some billet aluminum inside the car, and GTS II seats, the interior is stock. ( By the way, if anyone has a good set of door panels for this year, let me know...)
