coolant expansion tank

Anyone else have what look likes very small black pieces of rubber in their expansion tanks? Take a look in there and see.

it looks like very small pieces of rubber or sealant. Does Ford use RTV on the coolant system anywhere.

i have some black specs in the tank, but i think they are on the sides of the tank, like bacterial build-up. here are the pics..... you can compare them to what you see. mine dont seem to be floating.

what are you planning on doing about the specks now? you know someone else has them, and you know what i think it is, but what do you think needs to be done?

coolant fush in a few thousand miles. How do you bleed the air out of the coolant on these cars?

I found the bleeder, its located on the coolant crossover pipe on the drivers side, right underneath the intake manifold.

coolant flush sucks because this is supposed to be extended life antifreeze. i think the manual recommends a flush at 30k, i know the stealership wants you to do it then. whats the point of more expensive extended life if it does not see an extended life?

i am not saying a flush would not help, or would be a waste, but i am saying we should not have to flush it at 30k

yeah I agree I called the dealership today. The coolant costs 18.95 a gallon and the thermostat is 17.95. I am going to drain the coolant and replace it. I will change the hoses every 30k. I plain on changing the coolant and thermostat every 15k.
