Coolant leak?

Ive got a 289 and it was leaking coolant around the timing chain cover(in that valley above the fuel pump but on the front).I took off the timing chain cover and replaced the gaskets and used sealant.Put it back together and it still leaks right there.Someone told me that these motors are bad about deteriarating(pretty sure me spelt thad rong) around the timing chain covers.Anyone heard of this?

You are getting a little puddle on top of the timing chain cover, correct. Do you ever see it leak? Mine has holes on the back side of the timing cover and it seeps from there. Cardudeusa on here told me about this leak. I could not seem to figure out where it was coming from. He JB welded the holes shut and stopped his, I have not gotten around to fixing mine yet. Hope thats your prob too, you dont have to take anything apart to fix it.
