coolant leak

in the winter my radiator went, nad at the time i didn't have money to get a new one or a real good one, so i got one from a junkyard for $75 until i could afford a new one. i checked it for leaks and there was none. i out 2 bottles of coolant in and it was fine. but somewhere it is leaking cuz it says low coolant sometimes and there are stains in my driveway. so i know it's leaking. one time when i went to put coolant in i saw it dribble out of the overflow, i ithnk it is leaking from there. i checked the overflow and it didn't seem to have a crack in it, do you guys think that maybe one of the hoses is lose and not on secure? once i can get it up on stands i can get a better look. but any other suggestions are helpful. thanks

Try looking where your thermostat is. It is connects to your lower intake. Sometimes I have problems with leaking there.

Yes, check all the connections, the bottom one on mine has leaked a couple of times. Also check the thermostat seal if you're replaced your thermostat lately (look on the top of the timing chain cover for stains).

Has it actually been low when you inspect it? If you put too much coolant in, you'll dump some on the ground as it adjusts to the right level. And if you get the overflow tank sensor wet, you'll sometimes trip a low coolant light. I consider the light advisory, I always check with my eyes to see what's really happening.

or it could just be that the stock radiator that you replaced your old one with has developed a leak. mine has developed a leak, only when the engine is warming up or cooling down (no leaks when its hot or cold). some stop leak solved the leaking problem for the time being.

get a new aftermarket radiator. better cooling, lighter weight, awesome looks.
