Coolant leak

You use a gasket? I was told not to. Do you use a cork gasket, or rubber?

I don't even want to say what I'm thinking about this statement. Just find the person that wold you not to use a gasket and take a 2x4 to thier head after yer water pump isn't leaking anymore and that should make you feel better.

I use the blue Fel-Pro gaskets.

I must just be the worst person ever when putting something together. I've changed pumpkins 5 times now on my car, and 3/5 times I had a small leak. Maybe 2-3 drops a week. And all of those times I just used black rtv, with no gasket.

If you are doing it this often you should put studs in the rear end instead of using bolts. The studs would be better over all anyways and provably wont be that expensive. Also, if you have retorqued those bolts too many times they may need to be replaced anyways.

Rusty67 you must be aware that oil can leak past the studs that ends up with oil seeping out around the bolts. I never seen it bad enough to be a problem, but after all the work of cleaning up the rear, sure is a drag see those oily dirt spots on the carrier.
