So I have a problem with coolent loss. First off I don't drive my car alot maybe 500 miles a year or so, mostly here locally and to shows. Before I use or put the car up I always check fluids and things, just to be sure. Ever since I have had the car it has had coolant loss, but I can't figure out for sure where. It doesn't appear to be in the oil, I change it 2 times year, the oil is not milkly or anything, nor does it have the antifreeze smell or look. I think it is going out the exhaust. There is always moisture coming out the tailpipes, not alot, but even after it has been running for along time, more so on the drivers side, but still both sides.

Any idea were the antifreeze is going or what might be causing the loss. I would say I lose 1/2 a gallon every six months. I have replaced the rad. cap.

I have a FMS 3 core rad. 180 dergree stat. No hose or connection leaks.

I would look at all the spark plugs. If there is a diferance in the color from side to side then its posible to be a head gasket. You will always get moisture out the tail pipes. If its a nice worm day and its not a damp day and you get steem out the tail pipes and it smells sweet then that could be a head gasket also. Have you check to make sure your heater core is not leaking? Check the pasanger side floor to see if its wet. Hope this helps. Good luck

I know it is not the heater core and I took a look at the plugs a few months ago and they are all clean, no color variance.

Have it pressure tested. Also, most of the time if the head gaskets are the problem you can smell it out the tail pipes. There is also a tester that uses a chemical that detects hc gases in the a/f, find someone that has one and have the cooling system tested. It's a sure way to find out if the h/g's are the problem. Oh, how much coolant loss are we talkin'?

Good luck!

Again about 1/2 gallon every 6 months, but as I stated I don't drive it that much. I will look into having it pressure tested.

Remove and inspect your coolant reservoir for cracks. My mysterious coolant loss was from the coolant expanding and leaking out a crack that was above the full mark. The crack was on the mounting side so it wasn't visible and there was never any evidence of a leak left behind. Just a thought.
