Ok, so I finally got my new autometer gauge installed, and after putting it in the wrong port (I accidentally used the ect originally). Now my temps are between 210 and 250 on the autometer gauge. and at the "M" on the stock (which is located in the coolant kneck).

I can't get the fan to turn on when the a/c is on, and I don't think the high speed ever turns on, or maybe the low speed doesn't, I don't know. I'm very confused and frustrated.

I just don't want to blow up my engine...

Someone please help and show me the light!

Derek

Derek

You can tell which speed is running by when the fan turns on. I believe that the low is suppose to come on at 208 and the high at 228. The problem could either be the ccrm or the fan itself.

I'm pretty sure that the low speed on the fan is the red wire, and the high speed is orange. If you have a test light or meter, you can tap into the wires in order to figure out which one of the two is bad

Derek, since doing my autometer temp. gauge, I've been reading a steady 210 (which seems to hot to me). I don't know why, everything is functioning on my car, but I just made a post about it too. I'll let you know if I find anything out, and, free bump.

Mine runs at 210. I have the 180* thermostat. I was pretty sure the stock fan turns on at 212* so that after that it would drop and never see temps above 215*. Which thermostat do you have? What kind of coolant, is your therm opening?

Seems like I remember one of the self tests you can do will work both speeds on the fan.

Am I remembering correctly or not........

Does anybody know for sure?

I can't tell which speed, but I believe it to be the low...

I'm running standard coolant and a 180* generic stat...

Cooling issues I see. 210 isn't too bad for a GT as long is it comes down when the fan kicks on. I think mine hit 224ish before it started to cool down.

My Cobra never hits over 185*. I have the stock rad, 180* t-stat, water wetter, 184* programed fan turn on, and the thing I think helps the most is the oil cooler. My fan is on a lot, but I don't care. I like the car cool. Not too cool though. The oil has to reach a certian temp to evaporate collected moisture.

Not much help, just letting you know what I have that works well.......

Fan switches Like Brian mentioned might help. Pin 17 is high speed (requiring ground), and Pin 14 is low speed (requiring fused 12 volts). Shane has nice schematics for both those (so you can atleast get the fan on).

If you use your meter for testing, Pin 17 will show ground when the high speed fan is on, Pin 14 shows 12 volts (you probably figured that out from above).

Since I dont know that I will ever tune (I really just want a decent timing and fuel curves and to turn the fan on at lower temps), one of Mr. Baskin's fan controllers might be just what is needed. I would LOVE to have one on the 94GT, but just cant afford it. Absolutely TOP notch product (Yount and I chat and he is so in love with his - the 'efficiency' gauge is trick too!)

A simple test to see if the fan is even working is to pull the codes...the first phase of testing you can hear a few sensors click away and then the fan turns on for a moment if I remember correctly before it pulls the memory codes...Just a thought...

check the FAQ at the top of this sub forum. you can also check your repair manual or get them off the internet (FFI dot com, etc).
