Corbeau CR1's???? anyone who has had em or another Corbeau seat come in..

Hey I was thinking about getting these seats to replace
the ghetto stock seats..

I have a black stang with Charcoal leather interior.. Will it
look funny to have these mostly cloth seats there?? Will
the grey come close to matching my charcoal interior??
Do you need special brackets to keep your power seats??

I have a Corbeau GTII in one of my cars. Yes, you will have to buy brackets from Corbeau. I like the way the Corbeau seat holds me on sharp turns and while braking. Plus, it has a lumbar hump that makes it more comfortable on long trips.

You need special mounting brackets but you don't have power anymore.

i have the dark charcoal and went iwth black too and i took out the back seat and went with a black seat delete.

imo the black looks good in the car and doesn't clash cuz the car has some black in it and my car is black.

bracket wise if u have a 99+ u have to get full replacements... if u have a pre 99 then they do make brackets to mount to the factory rails

I think with a coupe a 4 point is not safe?

You can still use your stock seatbelts and Corbeau's grey is somewhat close to the factory Ford grey.

DevilSun, are your roll bar tubes that big or do you have padding over them? Plus what bar is that, custom made or what company? I want to do one in my 96 and you've got the same configuration I want in yours. Plus I'm looking at the Corbeau VX2000 seats also! Great minds think alike

I have the CR1 seats and full Corbeau sliders in my '91 GT, and I love them. All around fantastic seat. If you haven't thought along these lines yet, they do come in leather as well- but it's pretty expensive. I got the black cloth with my black/grey interior and they really look great. The cloth is pretty tuff to keep clean- you'll definately want to get a couple coats of scotchgard on them before you put them in. Also, the CR1 is a size specific seat and you will hate them if you get the wrong size. It says 32-34 inch waist and they aren't kidding. This is a seat designed for a man! My wife has a much smaller waist than me, but as most women do she has that hourglass shape and a womans hips do not fit comfortably under the side bolsters. If your girl isn't real petite (32" hips or smaller) than she isn't going to be comfortable. Just a few things you may want to think about.

That if she is out of junior high, she isn't going to want to go on any road trips. My wife isn't fat, she's dimensionally perfect... for a woman, and these seats weren't designed with a womans figure in mind. I think they make the CR1 in a 34-36 inch waist as well, but if you're a 33", it isn't going to hold you in the curves as well as the right size will.

The upper exposed tubing is padded. Look at the cross or harness brace, you'll see the real tubing size. It's an Autopower road race bar with welded in harness and cross mount...fit like a glove on install. Seats are Carrera's / CR1's.

I know this thread is older, but I was wondering if you guys with the Corbeau CR1's could share where you bought them from. Best price i have found so far is $900 shipped and I wanna make sure thats a good price. I also am curious if you opted for the inflatable bolster and if its worth the extra $50.

And no way I'm getting a wide version for the woman. If her hips are too wide she needs to grow smaller hips.

Also how are the corbeaus holding up, quality wise.

Grow smaller hips? Heh heh... they wish. No, dude, any woman who looks like one won't be comfortable. Flip through a few years of Playboy and tell me how many playmates have smaller than 32" hips- not too many. On that note, I don't have the inflatable lumbar, but I think it would help with the female passenger problem so I will probably try it out for that reason- the trouble is they can't push all the way back into the seat and that would hold them out a bit... maybe. IDK. I got one of mine on ebay, and the other from Latemodel Restoration Supply. They were running a promotional from Corbeau with free shipping, and they sell them for $798 a pair. I would call them first and ask about free shipping. I have never seen them for $800 shipped, and I did a lot of shipping around before I bought- but they may have gone down since then. They are holding up fine, aside from being a PIA to keep clean. I'm pretty carefull with them. The leather would hold up better, and be easier to clean I think- but I'm in the trades so my car is hard to keep clean in general. It's just this fabric sucks- it's warm and comfy and looks sweet, but everything sticks to it and won't vacuum off. A pencil pusher probably wouldn't have any problems. Oh- I highly recommend the full seat brackets with these seats! They're thick, and if you only get the adaptors it will raise them up even higher, you'll get stuck between the seat and the wheel.

Most places have the CR-1's for $399. Brackets on average are $75 and inflateable lumbar is right around $49. The deal breaker is shipping. Some places have a flat rate that is like $75 for both seats, some have shipping free.

The best deal so far I've been able to find is on apexperformance.net, but I cant find a price for the sliders. Shipping is free, so thats a big plus. Modernperformancenw.com supposedly has a discount for corral.net users, so I'm gonna give them a call shortly. They are competitive with pricing, but charge $75 for shipping.

One thing that worries me about the CR-1's however is the vinyl pad on the top of the side bolsters. That looks like over time it would get worn down faster than if it were cloth like the rest of the seat. I think I'm going to get the inflatable lumbar in both seats, because for long trips it definitely helps prevent your lower back from getting sore.

Oh, and screw leather. I have enough trouble worrying about the seats in my acura. Can you imagine accidently putting a hole in the leather of your $800 seats. Not saying that you cant damage a cloth seat, but it's not nearlyas easy to. I am very paranoid about it in my acura, and plus the seat is designed to keep you from sliding around, swathing it in ultra slippery leather kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it?
