Corbeau CR1's???? anyone who has had em or another Corbeau seat come in..

One thing that worries me about the CR-1's however is the vinyl pad on the top of the side bolsters. That looks like over time it would get worn down faster than if it were cloth like the rest of the seat.
Oh, and screw leather. I have enough trouble worrying about the seats in my acura. Can you imagine accidently putting a hole in the leather of your $800 seats. Not saying that you cant damage a cloth seat, but it's not nearlyas easy to. I am very paranoid about it in my acura, and plus the seat is designed to keep you from sliding around, swathing it in ultra slippery leather kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it?

You obviousely don't have these seats. First of all, the vinyl pads are there specifically because those are high wear areas and the cloth doesn't hold up well. The vinyle patches are good and tough, and the fabric they use for the rest of the seats would make good underwear at best. Watch them on ebay for awhile, almost every one, if it has been used at all, has a hole somewhere in the fabric- or a spot where they just plane wore through it. Unlike thick, slick leather everything is twice as likely to get caught on them and rip or poke through. Leather is a far superior option for durablilty. I don't know what's in your Acura, but this isn't buttery soft RollsRoyce glove leather they're using; and by virtue of the design of the seat, as long as you are belted in you wouldn't slide in them if you were butt-naked and turtlewaxed.

Have you had any problems with wear spots on the cloth? I believe they have a one year warranty against wear and they are supposedly decent about honoring it, so that would be helpful I guess.

I just installed the Corbeau Legacy seats. All black matches my charcoal interior great. The brackets that you can buy from Corbeau will match exactly with the bolt and holes in you car from the old seats. The stock seatbelts can be used with the Corbeau brackets. Direct replacement

Hey, that's why we're all here, right? I haven't had any big wear problems, just a few close calls with stuff on my belt and such getting hitched up on them getting in or out- but I spend a lot of time in my car so I'm real carefull with them. I've noticed some spots on the back lower corners and the ass patch and lap side bolsters seem to be getting a little thin, but conveniently they won't pop through in the first year I'm sure. Don't know about the warrantee, but they do appear to be pretty modular, putting new upholestry on shouldn't be too difficult when it wears out. My main bitch about them is that everything sticks to them like glue. You can spend two hours trying to get them clean only to have them look dirty again in a few minutes. Having these in a show car would be very frustrating I think. However, they are insanely comfortable and you absolutely do not move in the corners- which is why I got them so I try not to complain. They are a great driving seat, and like scheister said the Corbeau brackets are fantastic quality and fit perfect. As long as you don't assume they will be as forgiving to abuse as the stock Ford upholestry you should be fine.

Well, my taurus has cloth seats that are probably close to what you describe, so I'm used to having tons of stuff stick to them like crazy. I'm going to buy mine through a local vendor, so that if there is any problems in the future they can deal with the shipping, not me.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Corbeau leather seats - just not many people are willing to pay for them....rightfully so....they turn out to be just a bit more than double the cost and not many idiots will pay $1k for a seat .

You don't slide around in them, you don't stick to them - whoever said that has never been in a car with CR1's in leather. Fit and finish is great, and they are very comfortable....

Out of a group purchase of 40 or so sets, only one person got leather....and I've yet to see another car at an event with the Corbeau's in leather.

Thanks...I do a *thorough* pocket search before sitting down I dealt with Spencer at Corbeau, he was great in working with me so I could send the material to my seamstress so my logo could be done and then shipped back to them. They even rushed getting the seats finished and we ended up 2nd day air'ing them back to me so the cage, etc could be finished in time for an event.

Do these seats feel like the sparco Torinos? That really hard/stiff feeling? I like that alot. The Tenzo's look which look exactly like the Sparcos/Corbeau feel really soft and squishy, but say it has the same type of foam inside of the seat.

Yes, they are hard and stiff- but form fitting. "memory retention". Once you have been sitting in it for a few days, nobody else will want to drive your car unless they have the exact same shape ass as you. They are super firm, but mindblowingly comfortable. They feel really hard for the first hundred miles or so, then it's custom fit to you.

Beautiful. Have you ever sat in a sparco torino or milano? Do they feel like that? Thanks for the input.

Nope, haven't- but I can say my CR1's don't feel like Tenzos to me. If you can still find a December issue of Sport Compact Car magazine out there somewhere, they did an awsome seat guide covering 74 seats. Ton of info on just about every one out there. I wish I'd seen it before I went seat shopping. Still would have settled on my Carerras, but it was a great comparison table.

Anybody have any thoughts on those?
I've deleted my rear seat and don't require much access to the rear area. The solid support and low weight of these seats might make it worth it. What do you think?

Depends- on how much you like the angle they stick you with. It's not just about getting the kids in the back, or getting the groceries out- it's about being able to reach the steering wheel, shifter, and pedals without feeling like your sitting on top of one and can't stretch for another. Just something else to think about- make sure you sit in one before you buy it, so you know it's reclined where you're going to be comfortable driving at.
