correct way to install a connecting rod bolt.

how do you install a rod bolt. do you pull it through by tightening the nut with the cap on or what, i hope so because i did it like that.

depends on what style rod you have. you should either have press in bolts or what i call cap screws. i guess your saying you have the press in type. i dunno if it is ok to do it like you did it or not. i have the cap screw style rods.

You can't just change rod cap hardware. Once you change the bolt you change the alignment and then you must have it resized.

i don't get why you need to resize it.

they need to be re sized or atleast checked because changing the bolts can change the clamping load distorting the big end of the rod....you gotta remeber this stuff is invisible to the eye, but can make a big difference in how the bearing wears.....

as for the bolts themselves, it depends on the bolt as mentioned above weather their pressed in or not but all that would be handled by taking the rods and bolts in and having them re sized

Thats why I am taking my rods into the machine shop with a set of ARP wave-lock bolts to have the bolts swapped out and the rods resized.
