anyone have any tips on removing a corroded nut? Its the support for the battery.

Douse it with PB Blaster, and allow it to sit for a couple hours. Then use a 12 point socket instead of a regular one.

but wouldnt a 12 point socket be more prone to stripping the nut than a 6 point? assuming the nut itself is a 6 point nut.

I guess I would try the 6 point first. It seems to me at work we tend to use the 12 point sockets on the ones that are more prone to slippage.. but maybe I'm thinking backwards in my drunken stupor.

haha, i'd go with the latter of that statement

try the 6 point, and if that doesnt work try some vice-grips if the nut is stripped. after working on 40 year old military planes for 4 years, you learn many creative ways to remove stuck screws, bolts, nuts and all kinds of corroded hardware. good luck man.

That's funny, I do the same thing, except right now I do it on the A-10's (the 25 year old planes,) and I do the ejection seats mostly.
