Corrosion in Tag Light

My left tail light has corrosion in it and everytime I put a new tag housing in it just crisps up the housing and blackens it so that no light can pass through. Looks quite stupid.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ahh.. I see.. you threw me off where you said your left TAIL light has corrosion in it.

Is it possible that the bulb itself is burning the housing, like the bulb isn't fully seated or something?

Another probably less "fix it" approach may be to just replace the bulbs with LED's.. they don't get nearly as hot as the stock ones do, so it probably wouldn't burn the housing.

Have you relpaced them yet? I had one with a hole burnt thru the lense portion and the other one broke into 3 pieces when I took it out. I replaced them for the same reason...rust/corrosion inside that was making the light too dim. Personally I think they're a pretty crappy design considering that they're attached by a plastic screw going thru a plastic expanding sleeve. This is supposed to hold the housing up tightly so that the seal can keep all the moisture from getting inside when you drive in the rain?:nonono:

Yea, today I sealed that seal with crazy glue so that no water gets in there to fry it again. PATHETIC! It obviously didn't seal well as both of my housings had water in them. Hopefull this will hold better. :bang:
