I was wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark figure on how much it would cost to replace the intake valves or much work is involved?

Heads are coming off, complete disassembly and cleaning, source and install new valves and lap to the seats (grinding seats may be necessary...), new seals, reassemble and re-install with new gaskets: If you have a shop do it you're probably looking at $1500 or more. Unless you have bux invested in port work on the heads or they are aftermarket already, you're probably better off simply replacing the heads and using the old ones as cores or selling them on ebay to recoup some costs.

Q: Why do you need to replace the intake valves? PTV?

Yeah. I am just throwing around the idea of some stage 2 cams, namely the hitechs, but the PTV issues with them have me worried

I recently had to machine both of my heads to fix bad exhaust valve seals....

It wasn't fun but I learned a LOT. If you have the right tools, patience, and plenty of beer you can remove and install the heads yourself. I would most definitely have a machine shop with a good reputation do the actual head work itself.

You only need a few special tools like cam shaft holders, crank holder, etc., a load of sockets and extensions and u-joints and wobblers......

Make sure you do the job in a clean place not exposed to the elements and that you replace every gasket that you break the seal on. Rockauto DOT com has great prices on Felpro gaskets.... much better prices than the 'Zone.
