Could clutch cable be my problem?

When I let my clutch out (I know everyone is thinking t/o bearing) something makes a loud humming noise. This noise also gets louder when i rev my engine. I really don't think it is the throwout bearing because I had as brand new one installed last August along with a new clutch. Also as I press in my clutch, when it gets a couple inches away from the floor i hear a click. Any ideas because i am stumped.

my throwout bearing went out like 1000 miles after new clutch/bearing install. had to take it back and they redid it (fixed it). mine used to do that click a couple inches from the floor as well sometimes, not sure what that is. I have a spec stage 2 now with adjustable cable/quadrant, no noise anymore.

I hear a clicking noise every time, not just sometimes. Anyone else have any ideas?

If you hear a clicking noise right when the clutch engages it could be the TO bearing or the pressure plate itself.

what sort of setup do you have? adjustable or stock cable? firewall adjuster? aftermarket quadrant? let me know what you have I've done more of these setups than i care to think about we'll definitly find the problem.

Usually if it you have the firewall adjuster and adjustable cable the cable wasn't tightened enough and the adjuster is screwed out too far. from what i could see with a flashlight inside the housing it looks like the T/O bearing is catching on the end of the bearing retainer... hence ur clicking.

had the same problem with both my car and two of my friends cars until we got the setup adjusted properly.

Well I'm screwed because I believe my tranny is going. It's getting hard to shift into third and something clunks whenever I pull out anywhere. I'm only 17 and money is very tight seeing that I am trying to afford everything by myself. I don't know what I am going to do. Maybe a grad. present.
Anyway everything is stock except for the King Cobra clutch. Stock cable and quadrant. No firewall adjuster. Let me know what you all think.

could be your clutch isnt disengaging all the way, maybe your clutch cable is overly stretched, or the cable that helps hold the tension is screwed.

The stock quadrant is made up of two pieces. One or the other may be flexing as they tend to do causing it not to disengage properly. I agree wtih streetstang37 the clutch cable could be overly stretched. I'd look into getting an aftermarket quadrant and cable i don't think its your tranny. Only possibility as far as the tranny goes it could be the bearing retainer in the front. If its worn and theres a groove in it now the throw out bearing could get stuck not allowing complete disengagement. No worries though they're only like 60$ and you can get them from summit or hanlon motorsports or d&d. The question is how mechanically inclined are you to be taking apart half ur car to find out whats wrong....

No chances, I'm in southern PA. So what do you think I should do first to solve this problem? Where do you recommend I get a new quadrant and cable from and anything else I am going to need?

I too also think it is your clutch cable. I was having similar issues as you and the more I drove it the harder it was to enage a gear, it got to the point to where I could not even engage a gear. I looked under the car where the cable connects to the bellhousing and the stock cable was completely frayed apart with bare wire showing, it was almost to the point of snapping. Anyways I got a new cable and quadrant and installed it within a couple hours. No biggie. I got the FRPP cable & quadrant. It now shifts great and feels much better when pushing in the clutch. Summit sells some as well as others, do a search and you'll find many to choose from. You should do a visual inspection of the cable from the firewall to the bellhousing. Good luck.

I had the same problem, and found that the adjuster nut on my cable where it connects to the fork had backed off, so when i tightened it the clicking went away. I also had a similar problem on my 95 gt and it was the firewall mount for the clutch was loose. tightened it and the clicking went away. try these checks and let me know.
