My friend has a nitrous kit he was going to use on his 05 GTO before he got rid of it. I think I could get it for an awesome deal. The only problem is I have a 96 GT with 118k miles on it. Can my car handle a 50 shot? Because that is the most I would want to go. I dont want to mess up my engine at all, I need it to last another four years or so.

Do a compression test and make sure all the cylinders have sufficient pressure. Make sure your oil pressure is fine with an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

Make sure you get all the safety features to go with the kit; WOT switch, window switch, fuel pressure safety switch, colder spark plugs, etc.

It would be a good idea to drop the timing too. The rule of thumb is to pull the timing 2* for every 50 shot.

Sounds good man.

Just do LOTS AND LOTS of research before you start spraying

98 - you did learn a thing or 2 in all our convo's.

Tj - There are a few more things to consider.
1. it is so easy to change the jetting odds are you won't stay at the 50hp jetting.
2. Nitrous is addictive.
3. ANYTHING you do to increase power there is a trade off somewhere.
4. If spraying is for you after you do your research I strongly suggest a fuel pump upgrade. Your car is a return style fuel system I'd throw a 255lph pump in the tank and rock on.

5. ENJOY the power you'll love it but remember to respect it and be an inform user.

6. Don't hit it in a parking lot while cruising. I think someone on here learned that the hard way

I can get this kit for about $300. It is a wet kit with a boddle warmer. Does this sound like a good deal

Depends on what all is there, and how old the kit is. At first glance that is a steal.
IF it is an NX kit they will check your solenoids free of charge.

I believe it is a NX kit and it is suppose to have the some of the largest solenoids you can get. I guess I could spray a 300 shot if I wanted to with this kit. It has everything I need to hook it up. My friend bought it used for $600 but never put it on his GTO.

300 shot on a 2v

You would need direct port and a very built engine for that amount of n2o.

I think a better question would be; "Can you handle nitrous?"

How old are you?

I am 18, but I dont think age should have anything to do with it. Im not an idiot kid like most guys my age. I take car of my Mustang and dont beat on it, thats why I am unsure if I even want to spray at all.

What's your reasoning behind this kilgore?

If he want's to spray his car, he should be able to do it. At least he's being smart and asking all of us what safety precautions he needs to take. Just because he's 18 doesn't mean he's a dumb ass.

I guess the subject of age, maturity level, and nitrous would best be discussed in talk since it is not really tech. Maybe I will make a thread in talk on it...
