ok, i recently did a tranny job. Everything went well. Took longer than i expected, but it was my first major job. Im happy with that. Only things that arent right are my speedo doesnt work now. It worked for like 10 minutes after i got her running, then just dropped to zero . Another day it came back for one minute, but was all bouncy, and gave up. nothing since then. I took out the little gear for the speedo in the tranny, and it looks to be fine.

Next, stalling!! When I downshift and wind the motor to a stop, she stalls out on me. If the motor is winding down, and then i push the clutch in, the car just dies. Only way to keep it running is to give it a small bit of gas when i put the clutch in. Only takes like 200rpm or so, not much at all. But if i dont do this, it just dies. Its freaking annoying when im on the freeway doing 70mph(i think, haha) and i put the clutch in and it just turns off

any help? this craps annoying. Id like to know how fast im going..............and id lke the car to stay on

Thanks!!

ps. I know it kinda seems like a vacume leak, but i checked all the vacume lines, and it seems fine. I dont hear any leaks or see any hoses not hooked up preperly. Everything is hooked up tightly....

a vac leak will often cause a hanging idle, not a diminished one.

I am gonna run with the tranny stuff you just did (focusing on that if nothing else changed). Did you reconnect the VSS harness? The VSS will keep a rolling idle (foot off gas, but car rolling) of 1100-1500 RPM.

Good luck.

not exactly sure what that is. Only thing harness i disconnected was the speedo and reverse lights. I didnt unplug anything else. Where is this located so i can check it? My idle is fine, not jumpy or nothing. it will even stall if im ,say in 4th gear at 5k. Once the clutch goes in and the load is removed, it just dies. Have to pop the clutch to get it running again. Where is the VSS tho? Id love to take a look at it, hopefully thats the issue.
