I don't post very often but since the info and advice from these boards has always been solid I thought I'd bring up a couple issues that have popped up over the past couple months.

Last summer my ac compressor seized. Around the same time the high speed output from my EECM to the fan also seemed to mysteriously stop. Low speed was working but the fan would never switch to high speed, causing an overheating problem. I swapped the compressor with a new unit sold by a mass seller on ebay. I also swapped the hoses. The install was pretty smooth and there were no problems with refilling the system. Everything seemed to work fine and my ac was back up and running. To bypass the fan issue I just hardwired a manual switch through a relay to the high speed side of the fan.

Not even a year later the new compressor also seized. Well not completely seized but it makes an awful racket while spinning and binding up when I try to turn it on. Did I just buy a dud of a compressor or could there be another factor causing them to seize up? If it was just a dud does anyone have a recommendation of where to pick up a reliable compressor? Also, what would be my best option to solve my fan issue? I'm planning on swapping the radiator soon since it seems the fan has to run on high speed to keep the car in normal ranges. Should I try to swap the EECM?

Oh one last note (sorry for the long post), during warmup my check engine light has been coming on pretty regularly. It will stay on for a couple minutes then usually never comes on again until the next warmup. I dont have access to a reader so I dropped it off to my usual shop to get the codes pulled. They said the codes had to be active to show up and that they couldn't get the light to come on. Could this be part of my cooling problems or maybe because the fan is disconnected from the EECM?

click on link below and pull the codes yourself with a test light....i dont know what the shop means by saying the codes had to be active to show up if they mean the light has to be illuminated there wrong...repost results which may help diagnosis a/c problems.
