How can I tell if my rearend is a 8.8? It is not posi trac when I turn 1 wheel the other goes the opposite direction. Its in an 87 mustang gt but I am not sure if its the original. Also what does the quad shock system look like? I realize that quad means 4 but I only see 2 shocks, am I missing something.

It's not very likely you have a "other than stock" rearend...I'm sure you have an 8.8...when you spun the wheels...that is normal...
Your 87 comes with "posi-trac" from the factory though it might be worn out and you could be doing the infamous "one wheel peel"...
The quad shocks aren't reffering to four shocks in itself...it is on either side of the inside of the back wheels and looks like an angled strut...I believe it is connected to the sides of your rearend...
