Couple problems, anybody wanna help w/ opinions

1) 8 rib belt setup GI JOE kit. It lines up and drives perfect, but when i power shift, there must be some ever so slight flex in something (possibly vortech bracket) and its starting to eat 1 rib away on the engine block side of the belt.

2) Launching from a stop, I can burn thru 1st gear catch 2nd in its perfect powerband and ride it to the shift lite at 6250rpm. When i powershfit into 3rd, bam, it falls flat on its face and bogs with the rpms really low. WTF? Why would it be doing that? Its never really done that before during the summer.

I know its hard but check and doubple check that the pullies are lined up perfectly. One of mine was just a hair out of whack and it did the same thing. I know its common for there to be a little wear when you first use the 8 rib with a new belt.

For the bogging that sounds like its tune related like maybe its getting to much fuel and its bogging the car down. Once again I had that problem too but it was in second gear around 6000 the car would just fall off and once it shifted to third it almost threw me foward it bogged so bad.

Is there any good way of checking alignment of all the pullies? If you eye ball them, they look perfect, but obviously something is off somewhere. Do they make a tool or anything to get exact measurements?

Take a straght edge (ruller, level.. something u trust to be dead on) and place it on the crank pulley. then move it out to what ever pulley ur wanting to check. Try to put feeler gauges in between the other pulley and what ever ur using to check. Should be minimal if any clearance between them. Sound to be like ur off just a tad. I ran into this with my 351 car, they all looked but but in the end it cost me a hundred bucks in the cheap belts before we got it right. even left me stranded once.

someone makes a tool that is a laser that you hook to the pullies and it gives perfect alignment. i seen it in one of my tool catalogs once, but not sure which one. it wasn't that much either.

thats exactly what i need. somebody let me know if you have a name of this product or a link to it.

I just leaned over the pullies and could see that it was slightly off. If you can look over them and they all look good I would say its not the problem.

Maybe try a new belt, there could have been a defect in the belt.
