Anybody come across this before? Pulled my car onto the driveway (drive slopes - car nose down) tonight after some fairly enthusiastic use. I can hear something 'ticking' from the front end - just the engine cooling I think walking away - then think again. Take a look under the front end and there's (I'm guessing now cold) water dropping onto the hot exhaust at the tail of passenger side the downpipe. I thought it had just splashed up under the car but after a couple minutes there is quite a pool and it hasn't let up.

Fearing the worst I pop the hood - coolant is on the mark. Motor looks dry all the way round. Hoses good. Get a clean rag into the small puddle now under the rear of the motor. the water is cold and clean. Not coolant. What the hell ?

Peer around the back of the bay down the back of the motor. By now I suspect this is windscreen washer water from recent over-zealous screen cleaning - or maybe rain water from earlier today - draining from the cowl/scuttle. Seems to be a bit of water around the the black thing in the back l/h/s of the bay (think it's part of the aircon). Finally peer down the back of the block and think I have found the culprit - a small drain in the firewall which looks like it's been puking water down onto the exhaust. Anybody come across this before ? Is it a scuttle drain ? If you weren't looking hard you'd probably miss it unless you had the motor out !

Guess it's nothing to worry about - but I almost had a baby - for a moment I thought I'd blown a head gasket or at least a hose ! Bad memories of my '90 Supra bursting a bottom hose and puking coolant on the drive flooding back . . . .

Damn! Haven't heard it called that in ages. Us Yanks call it "a/c".
