Got her new hood installed today. It's a Boss 3.5" cowl. Very good quality and easy fit. Highly recommend these guys. Can't beat the $400 price tag either...

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

Looks great Bill. Boss makes a very good hood. I'd put them right up there with Cervini. Did you have to do much prep to get it to fit?

Thanks guys. It really changes the look of the car. Install was pretty easy, just a few adjustments with the hood hinges and slight latch adjustments. The hardest part was drilling holes for the hood pins (an expensive screw up if you don't get it right). Highly recommend Boss if anyone has hood plans in the future!

Very nice. We picked one up last fall at the All Ford Super Swap in Columbus, OHIO for my nephew's coupe. Excellent quality hood. I planned on grabbing one myself, but after seeing it on his car, I gotta say...too much hood for me. 3" on either side and 3 1/2" in the middle. You gotta have some serious attitude with your car to be able to back up a hood like that. Gonna go with something a little more subtle with my ride.

The pic was taken right before I drilled. You can see the cables/pins hanging down on the front bumper.

Bill,
You mentioned aligning the hood with the hinges and the hood latch. Since you have hood pins did you leave the latch on for alignment purposes to drill the holes for the hood pins? Or are you going to use both?

I would leave the stock latch in place and also had pins on my fiberglass hoods. The stock latch has been known to give way due to vibrations. Many people including myself have had a hood fly up due to the stock latch failing with a fiberglass hood. I figure hood pins are cheap insurance vs. new hood, cowl, etc.

Hmm, I thought people got hood pins to delete the hood latch (or just not use it all).

The tires are 165/15 on a 15 x 4 Weld Draglite.

I am using the hood latch with the pins. The latch actually helps keep the hood from rattling around. I got rid of the safety catch tho.....

Is the hood fiberglass or metal? If FG, how much lighter do you think it is over stock metal?

It is fiberglass. If I had to guess I would say 20 lbs or so. It's amazing how light the Boss hood is.
