That depends on the "calibration" of the MAF, not the EEC.

Sometimes a setup will not work, even if it is supposed to.

Agreed. The way I think about how much it can handle is: regarding the computer, it's not about absolute flow, but rather how long of an injector dwell/duty cycle can you achieve. Knowing that, you can back engineer to know what size components to use.
