I have a HI-6 box, MSD distributor, MSD coil. The box is getting 12 volts and the status LED lights up. But when the engine is cranked, the LED goes out. If the LED does not blink, the troubleshooting instructions say the box is not receiving a crank signal. I have the box wired to the MSD distributor correctly, what can be the problem? Does the distributor send a signal to the box or vice versa? Swapping distributors did not help.

Thanks
DJ

Where did you go to for your 12 volt source? I went to the wrong side of the ignition when I did mine and when I would start the car it would cut the power off to the crane unit. Stupid move on my part, not paying attention to what I was doing.

I ran the thin red (switched 12V)straight from the battery, now I get a crank trigger and the LED blinks. There are 2 red wires, one thick one that goes to 12V, the other thin red one goes to switched 12V. If I connect the thin red one to any switched 12V, when I crank the motor the LED goes out.???

Fixed..... for now

Well, it seems to be working. Just had to find a good, strong switched 12V. Now it's just getting the thing to start. New motor, etc.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
