It just died all of a sudden, plugged stock coil plug back in to run off the stock ign. Tried box again next day, ran a few seconds and died.
I'm getting 12v constant on both sides of coil with crane box plugged in.
Only using basic hookup, not using retard or 2 step deal.
Think it's fried? What else can I check?

If it works OK when you wire it up in stock configuration without the Crane box, then the Crane box has died. To the best of my knowledge, they are not repairable by anyone but Crane.

That's odd because I rarely hear of a Crane box crapping out, MSD all the time. How old is the box?

About 10 years but only about 18-20k miles on it. Works intermittently, but no lose wires. Drove today for about 5 mins. Drove fine, no cutting out, missing or anything.
Has never cut off while driving, but when ignition is switched off will not restart.
Testing with light, it still flashes even though car won't start.

Again with stock ignition all is well

Well it's dead for sure, all connections are good. I try it every few days and it hasn't fired with hi-6 hooked up since post.

I really don't need aftermarket ign right now but will when I spray it and I really really want to hook the 2 step up to the clutch switch, that will be awesome.
I didn't really realize that ign box had that feature and neither did my bro (who is the actual mechanic, both of them. I am far from it however). The one that installed it isn't in to racing so he didn't pay attention or mention it I guess, he just put it in.
Is there a wire from the clutch switch that is hot when clutch is depressed? Seems it would be simple to hook up, am I correct??

I don't think you need an aftermarket ignition at all.
Wait until you get a power adder.

This... and even then it may not be necessary.

How do you know you needed it?
I ran 100 dry shot without one, it was fine.

The reason that these questions are being asked is because the OEM ignition system on these cars is PRETTY DAMNED GOOD even by after-market standards. Quality control of the OEM pieces is significantly higher than that of the after-market.

Well when I first installed nitrous system (wet system w/one fogger) I forget jet sizes but equated to like 135 shot via online calc.
Heads were stock E7's that had been milled I think .030 (could that be right?) stock cam with pedestal 1.7 "cobra" r arms, pullies, headers ect...
Car ran really well but when installed nitrous system it would like hesitate and pop a little sometimes. My buddy had a new Crane hi-6, cured the problem so I left it alone. Never sprayed the motor previous to this rebuild but all parts still in car, bottle heater, widow switch ect. So I will use the system again.
Again, for now I mostly want it just for launching on the 2 step. I just like to say 2 step

2000xp8, you know everything about my motor and most about car. What do u think I'll run in 1/4 and 1/8mi? 1/8th mi tracks are all we have around here so it'll prob never see 1/4mi on track.
Not sure what u don't know:
3.73's mt et streets, or my old tall McCreary dirt track tires that always hooked like glue.

Should be 12.50 or better.
There is probably 11 second potential (i've seen less go faster), but an 11 second timeslip is never a given.
