Anyone running a pan evac setup on their street car? (If you don't know what this is, see below)

I'm getting some blowby (140k on motor) under boost (12PSI). I don't want to run the crankcase gasses back through the blower nor do I want the vapor lowering my octane. I don't want the mess of breathers.

Anyone with experience care to chip in? There is a lot of heresay on this.

Wes

What is a pan evac you ask?

I run a vacuum pump on mine...#12 line to valvecover, then to pump, then to catch can. Alot cleaner than breathers and helps seal the rings/reduce blowby. The high quality pumps can be expensive, but I have used the ford motorsport one with good results.

Thanks for the reply,

The pumps look like the way to go, like you say, they are pricey. I'm going to attempt the header evac setup first, if it doesn't work, I'm out $50 for the parts and a little time.

Talking about this pump here? http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=2739

Does it bolt right up to the smog pump location or do custom brackets need to be fabricated?

How about the pulley alignment and pulley itself?

Got any pics of your setup?

What are you doing to regulate vacuum to a certain limit?

The evac system is not going to work. That is made for dragsters and such...plus it will be bad for your cats. Those header systems only work at high rpm to suck the gasses out.

I use the pump in place of the stock smog pump. I use a stock smog pump pulley and an underdrive crank pulley. You dont want to spin the pump over 5K RPM. If you use the air pump/alternator bracket, the alignment is fine.

I can get you pics after this weekend, my car is 2 hours away and I forgot to take pics last week.

Moroso makes a vacuum regulator that I will use to regulate the vacuum.

Here is the best pic I can do.

See the #12 fitting with tape on it?

I run a #12 line from there to the pump, then from the pump to a catch can on the firewall.

Like I said, I can get pics over the weekend.
