Hey guys. I have the harmonic dampner bolt stuck in the front of my crankshaft. And there is no way it is coming out i tried a 1" drive impact wrench and it didn't move. But the question i got is my motor only has about 15,000 miles on it and prodcued 415hp and 400 ft/lb of torque naturally aspirated. I don't know if i should just pull the motor apart and get a new crank or just build a new motor? The hassle with pulling the crank and getting the new one balanced and stuff doesn't seem quite worth it, but i don'twant to just scrap such a nice motor. Could i get away without doing a complete balance and just have a machine shop balance the crank? that way i won't have to remove my pistons! Any recommendations are accepted, thanks Justin.
P.S. if i built a new motor it would be a a dss-racing 331 with 8.5:1 compression and twin t-4 turbo's in my 65 mustang.

Is the crank rotating when you try to remove the bolt or do you have it pinned so it can't move? If it is rotating place a 10 or 12 inch extension and brace it against some part of the engine. As for the bolt use a 1/2" drive breaker bar(or bigger if you have the sockets for it), find a socket that fits over the end of the bar, stick an extension in the socket, and put some a** on it. I've run into the same problem. Use a craftsman or impact socket.
