Ditch those hex bolts and go with allen bolts. It made my install so much easier. The ball end on my bondus socket adapter made torqueing from different angles easy.
I had that problem, you can go to Advance Auto parts or your local speed shop and buy covers to get over your plug wires I have them on mine. They are made almost the same as the header wrap.
You have to use 90* boot plugs. My buddy had'em on his coupe and had no problems. If that fails use those heat shroud wraps that you use with turbo headers.
I had to do the same thing ....i was using live wires with the heat sheild over them and the boot shields as well and the boot always got toasted..So i went to a local shop and asked them for some old wires and they gave them to me and i just used the end that goes on the cap on the plug...I havn't had an issue like that for about a yr and i still have the same boot (90*)on there from when i did the swap....
It would also help to get some good quality wire keepers, the kind that route the plug wire straight up from the plug and run them along the side of the valve covers and around to the distributor.
If you've just got wires hanging all over the place with nothing to keep them from hitting the headers...well you sort of asked for it.
First hand experience with MAC and BBK...Macs were junk plain and simple, didnt fit for crap, didnt seal up because it they had individual flanges, coating sucked, couldnt tighten the bolts well, harder to change plugs etc etc... threw on some BBK equals fit perfect, seal perfect, look and sound way better, no problems with bolts or changing plugs, and never burnt a wire.
