ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND WHEN I GOT OFF THE EXIT RAMP AND PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH, THE RPMS JUMPED TO ABOUT 4000. I KINDA BLEW THAT ONE OFF BUT THE NEXT DAY AFTER DOING A BURNOUT THE RPM'S SHOT EVEN HIGHER WHEN I PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH. MY PAST 5.0'S WERE HARD ON THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS, SO I THOUGHT THAT'S WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THIS ONE. I REPLACED THE TPS AND THOUGHT I HAD IT, BUT THE DARN RPMS JUMPED AGAIN ON ME LATER THAT DAY. CAN YOU BRILLIANT!! GUYS STEER ME IN A DIRECTION SINCE I DONT GET ANY IDIOT LIGHTS OR CODES???

My first guess, based mainly on the fact that there's been a rash of similar "sudden acceleration" threads lately, is that perhaps your gas pedal got stuck on the carpet.. but in any case, what other mods are done? Have you messed with the throttle cable routing, switched TB's or anything else lately?

thx for the helpful "caps" info lazyhrse. but the only mod so far has been the k&n cold air kit. i've been a mustang guy for a decade but this is my first 4.6, that i bought a week ago! oh, the car has underdrive pulleys also. dont think that carpet is the culprit cuz it only does it at a complete stop, after "gettin on it", with the clutch in...
