crossfire 350 in a mustang? IM GONNA DO IT!

hey guys, my name is russ, im 34, and i must say, i am a chevy guy. lol, the problem with chevy though is their platforms, THEY SUCK! so i decided to mabye do a fuel injected chevy 350 in a "fox 3" platform (i think thats what they're called)

anyway, i know a lot of the purists here won't like what im doing, but for the most part i think you guys will appriceate (spe?) the fabrication and craftsmanship required to actually transplant a chevy powerplant into a mustang.

so heres a few pics of what im starting out with, it's not much, but it's something. i decided to use a fuel injected chevy motor, but since i couldn't come up with the funds to support a TPI powerplant, i decided to look for something a little cheaper, and VOILA! a junkyard crossfire injection 350 out of a CORVETTE with approx 110,00 miles for only $400 complete!

so yeah, im pretty excited to get started. the car im swapping it in is a 93 GT. i think it's some kind of special edition because on the regestration i found in the glove box, it says GT/COBRA. so i may have something special on my hands, i don't know lol. the car is a roller that i picked up locally for sale. i got it for $850, haggled down from $1000. it's a straight car, decent paint, and alright interior, so im happy. the ODO says it has 17,000 miles on it, but im guessing it's really got about 117,00 because of the condition of the car.

well, anyways, here are some pics, i hope they work, and i'll be posting more of the initial swap if you'd like.

thanks for looking guys,
Russ

gt/cobra means its just a Canadian GT

why go with a crossfire injection 350? I mean if ur a chevy guy and thats what u feel comfortable working with thats fine and dandy... but for ur cost of fabrication and mods a mild 5.0 will tear that engine apart.

Ive always heard bad things about the crossfire injection anyways, of course, Im no expert so meh...

btw. pics dont work.. but I am interested in seeing what uve got going. There is another guy on this board that has an ls1 fitted into a notch.. that things pretty impressive. Gotta hand it to the ls1.

uh why? your not takin a ultimate chevy motor and putting it in a perfect platform.. i can agree to and extent on a LS1 but a cross fire? thats just random and not quite the greatest motor to be used.. if you wanted to go radical drop a damn 396 in a fox.. as far as mounting.. buy the 350 swap mounts (cross breed websites sell em).. its just a suggestion..

lol, what the hell is youre problem. im not trying to be mean or anything, i personally have owned 3 foxes, and am currently behind the wheel of a 91 trans am with the 5.7liter tpi, and by just hanging around other third gen guys i have realized how much of a POS the crossfire injection system is. and that looks like a pretty good roller from the pic, so why would you go through the trouble to put a crossfire 350 in it. hell, at least a TBI can be had for the same price, and **** for those isn't all expensive like it is for the crossfire.

oh well, to each his own i guess. good luck with that.

LOL i used to have a Crossfire IROC...it was the mega ultra suckage supremo. We used to say "I Rarely Outrun Cops" lol. It had these pretty cool vaccum actuated vents that popped open on the hood, that was the ONLY cool thing on the car.

Well i'm not trying to discourage your swap, but I own a 82 vette along with my 86GT but the vette was a lot harder to get power out of and tons more money too but my 300hp stang still will walk around my vette anyday all say long. First of all the stock intake manifold is junk I dont care what people say it's junk. goto x-ram.com and use one of there manifolds they work great. Second the TBI setup is a very old and out dated plus is a PITA to setup when trying to get performance out of it. I've had various size TBI throttle bodies from a stock bore up to my current 2 1/4" bore throttle bodies with 68lbs injectors. i'm cranking 376hp and 403lbs of torque to the wheels but i'm also running a 383 with dart heads and a custom grind cam a different computer etc... It takes a lot of time and money to get the engine to run right, i'd say personally would keep that block and get some newer heads and go with a 1985+ newer TPI setup, it's way more performance friendly and tons of mods you can do also. So it's up too you, i'll i'm saying it's hard work and money to get a crossfire setup to run strong. If you have any more questions just lemme know i'll be happy to answer them.

Are you sure it was a crossfire? The crossfire was only out in the 82 maybe the 83 camaros and the iroc didn't come out until 85.

i think this sounds like a very unique idea
and crossfire is not all bad, stock they have 205 hp but 290 tq
what does a 93 stang have? 205 hp and 275 tq so they are pretty close in comparison
i have a 84 vette with crossfire, mods to that include headers, 2.5 exhaust, ported intake, bigger tbs, and i walk away from mustangs all the time
crossfire93 i would check out the website www.crossfire.homeip.net/cftest
theres alot of good info about crossfire there
