Crown Victoria motor in a Mustang

Well finding a GT motor is harder thatn i thought! Is the block the same? Such as the pistons, crank, well basically the rotating assembly. My plan is to use a Crown Vic block with the PI heads and intake manifold. Also i want to increase the compression just like a nonpi motor with pi heads, can it be done on a Crown Vic

If you're on the way to the junk yards, try picking up a 3v 5.4L motor or maybe an old 5.0 motor? Why bother with the crown vic engine in a stang....?

There are plenty of places (like http://www.karkraft.com/used_engines.htm) where you can get GT, Mach or Cobra Motors. I personally wouldn't get a crown vic one

The thing is that I only found a couple and they want alot of money for it and its nonpi. i found a block (from a crown victoria) with crank, rods, and pistons for close to nothing. My plans are to rebuild and use pi heads and so on. Like i said are you crank, rods, and pistons the same? How about the water and oil pump? How can I know if its a Crown Victoria, Cougar, or Grand Marqui block?

Also the wreck yard did not know what year it came out off so how can I check (i.e. castings and serial #)?

Go ahead and used the engine from the Crown Vic, the block itself isn’t specific to just the Crown Vic. The blocks were either Romeo or Windsors. For more information on some of the differences check out: http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/eb40228.htm

a guy who works at ford here looked up parts to see differences and he said cams and followers are different on the pi engines i was going to do the same as you and get the vic engine
