I've gotten that 1989 on the road finally. Now the cruise control does not function. I have adjusted the connector at the buterfly and checked the fuse. What else can i look for before I'm doomed to a road trip with no cruise this weekend? Thanks for the help.

Make sure the VSS (speed sensor on the tranny) is plugged in, is the car a manual or an auto? the manuals have a switch on the clutch that cancels the cruise when the pedal is pushed.. those can go bad.

yes it is manual, sorry for not specifying. as for the vacume lines I'm not seeing them, this just has a cable that comes outa the firewall right by the actual throttle cable, two other symptoms i have are the door lock button doesn't work nor does the hatch release, and the fan has two speeds on and off, not sure if those other electrical issues could be related or not? The sensor on the tranny is plugged in because i've had the car on a lift for the past few days cleaning the heck outa it, I'll be sure to post pics after this weekend.

Maybe the n/a doesn't have vac lines on the cruise control, the turbo does.

The cruise, horn, and cigarette lighter (I believe) are all on the same circuit.

I wonder if maybe something is wrong with the buttons on the steering wheel?

I'll look into it, thanks. I'll be gone for the weekend but will get an update next week sometime.

Your cruise control servo is vacuum operated. Follow your cruise cable carefully and you will find that it doesn't go through the firewall. It goes around the back of the strut tower and then behind the fender apron. A vacuum line and wiring harness also go back there. Your cruise control servo is there- tucked behind the fender, above the liner. Pop the fender liner out and you will see it. Mine went bad in my 86 Capri. A quick trip to the junkyard yielded a good one for $15. Problem solved.

Ah ok. I might take a look at that, or I may just sell this one with the soft underbody so I can afford one that hasn't seen salt and is in process of going turbo.
