Cruiz Control problem?

OK so my cruiz control isnt working anymore. I had a problem with the steering wheel clock and had to replace it. I did that and now i have a horn and no more air bag light on (it had been that way for a while)

But i went for a test drive and the cruiz control still isnt working. I checked every fuse in the whole car and they are all fine. PLus i think if the fuse was blown i wouldnt have a dash clock on. (which it is working just fine) I also made sure that i plugged it in behind the air bag and made sure that was correct (there is only one place it can go)

So any ideas?

1. check to see if you knocked a wire loose. There's a switch on the clutch and brake that kick the cruise off if you press either one. It can be knocked out and hang loose which will kill the cruise.

2. check for a vacuum leak.

those are the two most common problems after working on the thing and finding the cruise inoperative. Also there are switches on the wheel. Are they connected solidly???

I bet the connections for the switches were knocked off or damaged during the install. The Horn,Cruise and airbag wiring all are contained in the clockspring.

The cruise control system on your car is all electronic no more big vacumm canister and it has a servo on the fender with a cable going to the throttle body.

BTW the clockspring is a electrical connector that allows for a wiring connection while the wheel is turning. Inside of it is a rolled wire and the housing spins with the steering column and this allows for a wiring conenction in a spinning object ( the wheel) It is not literaly a clock in the steering wheel.

Except the cheap plastic piece connected to the TB linkage. Check to see if that's broken.

LOL yeah I have seen that thing broken. I always check that and the cable right away then check the electrical stuff.

Well i havent got a chance yet to look for this "Switch" that BobHyatt was talking about but is it hard to find, or would i have to be blind NOT to find it?

I did however check that little plastic connector that goes on the T/B and it isnt broken (Yet lol) and is connected.

And Svttech76, I found out the hard way what the inside of the clock spring looks like, and sorry i feel like a Dumba** for calling it a "Steering wheel clock", when in fact its a "clock spring". Thank you for the correction.

Well i will be checkin again tonight and will repost and let you guys know whats up.. but thank you again for all your help and support!!!

Stick your head under the dash and look up the clutch/brake pedal and you will see two switches. One on the brake pedal that turns your lights on and your cruise off. The other on the clutch that will not let you crank without holding the clutch down and will disengage the cruise when you step on the clutch.

Come to think of it, my Cobra was going down the freeway the other night. I kicked the cruise on, and it didn't work either!! WTF? It worked last year! Oh well, new project for the springs. I am done with the Cobra for the year, besides small trips around town...no more freeway.

OK well i went and messed with the stang last night and didnt figure it out... I found the switch under the dash but that wasnt the issue either... I double checked everything and to me, everything was fine (except the part that it didnt work lol)

Thanks for all the help guys but i think there are more people are these threads that need more help than my cruise control lol.. I will repost when i figure out this damn thing..
