Well I did very much think I had a rear main seal leak...with oil on the lip of the dust shield I thought for sure that's what it was. Oil was collecting on the heads of three oil pan bolts on the very rear drivers side of the oil pan. The pan was secured with a one pc blue seal (assume FMS or felpro) and the retaining rails are intact (rails running along bottom of oil pan between pan and bolts. Today I come home and AGAIN oil spot on floor, under goes the jack and me. I find the following: Oil has again accumulated on the oil pan bolt heads, but there is a definate oil stream from below the most rear oil pan bolt (larger diameter head than the others) on the drivers side just before the rounded out portion of the pan below the crank. The front and back sides of the dust shield are COMPLETELY dry..no oil, no residue..fly wheel side is dry and dusty exposed side is perfect..but as mentioned oil on the lip...and a stream mark from the upper oil pan bolt. Now I assume the oil pan holes are weeping past the bolts..and when the car is driven or front lifted..oil gets past the bolts some how..how I don't know. So what I did was one at a time remove the bolts appearing "wet" with oil and cleaned, coated with black RTV black and reinserted into their place with a good but not overdone snug. Question after all above bable is...why..why is this occuring?...with the RTV work as a sealant? is there another way to attempt to seal the pan aside from what I've done?. Give me some ideas guys..cause I can definately use em. On a good note...the underside of my engine is cleaner than the day it left the factory..I'd love to keep it like that but ya gotta drive em.
