custom cai

I was wondering is easy to make a custom cai and is there any articles around that I can see on building one.
Go to Home Depot or Lowes to the plumbing section, get 3" PVC, a 90* rubber PVC coupler (for Fox) to the TB and a straight PVC coupler (or 2 for SN) to hook to the MAF. There are some good pics around here of that setup.

its a piece of PVC pipe and a couple rubber things. Only thin about a homemade one is you have to cut the hole in your fender bigger. A lot of guy including me didn't want to do that, thats why we bought one

I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the tool shed but explain something to me about the this store bought cai.

If you don't wanna have to rip your inner fender lining off to get the maf/filter in the fender and you don't make the hole bigger, how does using a store bought cai enable you to break the law of physics.

well, with the pvc cai's it's a straight shot from the TB (usually) so to get it in the fender you have to cut some of it off, I did this too. Some ebay bought ones make an S shape (straight into the existing hole)

You gotta be talking about a maf other than a ProM80 cause it is just too big to get in the fender using the stock sized fender hole.

i'm talking about stock MAF and fittings

I cut a bigger hole, BUT, it is absolutely possible that the Ebay kits use the existing hole.

I'm not saying that you can access it from under the hood, you might have to take the fender off, but that's how they do it. I have no personal experience with them. I just hacked up my inner fender and threw a piece of rubber around it so it doesn't bounce around

BTW: those 3" PVC connectors are in the plumbing world called Fernco Pieces (at least that's the company that supplies home depot)
