I'm not committed to anything yet, and I know that it is not going to be a simple bolt-on, but I was thinking about adapting the factory Cobra or Lightning/Harley supercharger to a 2v 4.6. Yes there are bolt on kits out there, but I'm thinking about this as an alternative to a custom turbo kit. Has anyone done this or something similar?

He's talking about the 03 cobra blower kit:
Tork Tech Inc. - **'99-04 GT Supercharger-less Kit Using a '03/04 Cobra Blower **
which is $1800.

Besides, does a regular KB kit come with a 8rib system, huge intercooler and heat exchanger or upgrade to their biggest blower for $999? Not really.

This really isn't about whether it's cost effective from a purely objective standpoint. If that were the case I wouldn't be considering a supercharger as it would reduce my gas mileage and cause additional wear on my engine.

We're all in this for enjoyment or should be. I would enjoy the challenge and process of adapting a dirt cheap supercharger to my engine and being able to say I did it myself as much as I would enjoy the actual increase in power from the supercharger. So, no kit on the market is really suitable for me. That said, I don't want to be shooting in the dark and I'd like to learn from others' mistakes if possible so I'd like to see if anyone has done this.

The M112 is one of the most used blowers of the modern age, and the 1900TVS is the design used on the ZR1 - how exactly are you getting less when you're paying less than KB's base price yet get all the extras you pay more for with KB optional parts.

Fixed.

Also, I'm now thinking about getting a Cadillac STS-V/XLR-V supercharger. It's internally intercooled and looks like it would require minimal adapters although several things would have to be modified or moved around to make it fit. The only thing is finding one for sale at a reasonable cost.
