351w, b303 cam, 69 heads 1.6 ex valves no porting, headman headers, 600cfm carter, performer RPM. Initial timing 14-18 deg, mechanical adv 20 deg.

At the track through first gear no probs. But part way through second gear (4500 - 5000 rpm) it starts to cut out. Let off the throttle and it comes back, but catches third (tranny kickdown issue) and by then I'm crossin the line (1/8th mile). Thought it was timing and it didn't seem to matter if it was at 36, 38, or 40.

So could it be that the fuel pump isn't enough for the motor. Fuel pump is a stock pump for a 68 302 w/stock fuel lines. Or could it be float level and improper jetting of the secondaries (sp)?

Thanks for any input.

Would like to get this thing to run better than the 302 it just replaced.
