has anyone cut off two of the four cats on the stock h pipe? I can't afford a new h-pipe, but I want it a little louder. Do you think getting rid of two of the four cats will work?

Don't quite think that is going to answer his question because I have the same one actually. I'm trying to figure out a way to do it.

dont do it. it is not worth damaging OEM equipment like that especially if u sell the car. just save up your pennys for an O/R pipe or a catted mid-pipe.

just to let you know, when you take off you stock midpipe, you better keep it handy. there are no midpipes currently carrying a CARB EO number.

Damaging the stock H-pipe...don't do what I did and cut off the H connector and have a X welded in...I thought it would be legal because I kept the stock cats, but it's seen as tampering regardless...I should have just put on an offroad pipe because now I have to look for an OEM catted pipe (probably from a junk yard) to have on hand for inspection.

Buy an off road pipe and save your stock catted H for smog tests. Even aftermarket catted pipes are illegal in CA.

I'm going to get an off road pipe this summer.
