I am just thinking of cutting out underneath the factory hood scoop and drilling some holes in the honeycomb. I want it to still look stock but serve a function to let some heat out of the engine bay. I figured that the hood is aluminum so it won't rust if I cut it.

Has anyone done this? Any tips?

Don't bother trying to drill/cut out the honeycomb, it's too much work. I removed the entire black honeycomb "grill/plug" from my 07 GT's hood scoop. Replaced it with aluminized honeycomb grill from a local hardware store (gutter leaf guards, actually). I cut out a good section of the hood under the scoop to get cold air over the engine, and shimmed the hood hinges up 1/4 inch to let hot air out.

I'm at work, so I don't have pics handy. I'll have to post pics once I'm home later. Here's a couple pics that aren't close ups - maybe it'll give you some idea...
