My car intermittently cuts out(not a simple miss fire) it does it while accelerating or just cruising. I checked all the ground wires and dist. and coil wires. All look good. Any one have any idea whats causing it.
+1 on the pip. they are known to go in our cars. the classic symptom of it is that it cuts out, and then after you let it sit a while, it is ok again, until it cuts out again. the heat over time causes them to fail. that is why letting it sit a few minutes helps, because they cool off. i think a "work around" i have heard is you can take the cap off and spray something down in the dizzy to help it cool faster ... but i don't remember what they say to spray, something like brake or carb cleaner
it is in the distributor, and a pain to replace. most people just get a new distributor

Are you losing all electrical power when the engine cuts out?
If no, I'd say it's the PIP sensor. If yes, check the battery terminals and make sure they're tight on the battery posts.
i'm having the exact same problem on mine. After about 20 min or so of driving it starts missing or cutting out at about 4,000 and after about 30min it'll do it cruising. I've checked fuel pressure ignition coil, wires and plugs with no luck. Whats PIP stand for?
