i dont have a problem with some roadrash or some rock chips but i was washing my car and about 2 inches of paint peeled right off the edge of the hood, i doubt ford will do anything even though its an 03 but i have 60000 miles on it. what is this paint water based. i had a bunch of problems out of my old chevy mechanically but it had a good paint job no orange peel like on mine and alot of stangs i see. oh well i guess ill let the paint peel itself off completely and get it painted

No thats not normal for large amounts of car paint from any mainstream company to just peel off. Some chemical reacted with the paint, like a paint stripper would affect paint. I personally have never seen any newer mustang with any paint missing without being in a wreck, and I live in mustang central here (its honestly one of the most popular cars out of ALL cars, although mostly sad, sad soccer mom's with auto v6's) and I happen to have dealt with a bunch of car auto paint issues in my short lifetime, old and new. Paint doesnt really peel off, anyways, unless something reacts with it. Possibly you hit a puddle with a strong chemical in it, its not unheard of.

That or you have defective paint, which is always possible. You might be able to squeeze something out of Ford if it is infact defective. You didnt happen to buy the 66000 mile warrenty did you ?

ive got the 100,000 mile warranty but i doubt it covers paint, if i got some chemical on it there would be a lot more paint peeling off

There is a TSB on the paint for '03 mustang hoods, might even be a silent recall.I think i saw it on blue oval news, can't remember.
But,it starts off with little pin holes in the paint, and over time it starts to inlargen by chipping.
Mine has one spot that started, but not big enough for me to worry about it.It's only the size of the tip of a ball point pen.All i did is touched it up with touch up paint.
Do a search, you might find something.Your local ford dealer should know about this, unless they want to give you the run around.
