Ok well I am trying to get the damn distributor rotor off the mustang but it wont come off at all! I have no idea why, I figured it should just pull off but it isnt. I looked in my haynes manual and no specific procedure to get it off so if any of you could give me some advice to pull that damn thing off I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

Man I have tried pulling on it with pliers, and prying on it with 2 screw drivers. It seems like it wont come off without breaking it, and I dont want to break it because then I might set the timing off by pulling on it too hard or I might break it and not be able to get the other peice off.

Man that sucks. It sounds like someone glued it on or something. Mine was on there for like 2 years and it came off in under a second.

Try and get some PB Blaster up the shaft (haha) and under the rotor. If you have a spare rotor, I'd break the old one off (not by bending against the shaft though).

I've had some that were really nasty to get off (neverseize can be your friend with the new rotor install). I'd just keep wiggling back and forth while pulling upwards and they'd come off eventually.

Good luck.

Well you could always remove your hood and stand inside the engine bay to get some better leverage over the rotor and pull the thing straight out. But I would use that as a last resort.

I dont want to break it yet because I want to upgrade to an MSD Cap and rotor but I cant get it yet so I just want to clean it so that it will run a bit smoother but like I said it wont come out. But yea I am going to try and use that PB blaster stuff on it to see if I can break it free, if not I am going to have to wait till monday when i get my tag and insure the car so that I can bring it here to the shop and let my lead tech. take a look at it, I am sure if anyone can get it off he can, lol.

I'd get a cheap one at autozone or something for like $4, and break that one off if it really won't come off. Just be careful not to bend or break the shaft.

If you just want to clean the wiper, I use a brush and/or steel wool on it (with the rotor in the car). This knocks off the build-up that accumulates on the edge.

You can also just mark and remove the dizzy. Take it to your guy and have him remove the rotor. That'd be a lot easier because with the dizzy upside down, you can let PB run towards the top of the dizzy (up the shaft and into the top of the rotor).

Good luck.

Ok well thanks for all your advice guys. After I got home from work today I was fed up with it and I removed the plastic peice surrounding the dizzy and got a screw driver in there pretty good wedged it in there and turned it and after a bit of fighting it little by little started coming off . So after I got the rotor off and cleaned it I put it partially back on and it was stuck again so I pried it off with the screw driver again, lol and put some dielectric grease on the shaft the rotor goes on and it slid right in with no problem and comes off easy too so yea, once again thanks guys. Untill my next problem, lol.
