Are these Vortech's hard to install??? I got mine today, bought it used and it has everything I just never tried to install one before. CJ pony parts wanted $1000 to install and $300-$400 to tune!~

Its not "hard" but it all depends on what you have for tools and how good you are w/ a wrench. Took myself and a friend 10-12 hrs to intall a Paxton Novi 2000 on the last Mustang I had.

it's very easy to do most of it's just relocation of stock stuff you can download the instructions off vortech's website if you dont have them the only part that I felt was a pain was tapping the oil pan, told myself I would never do it again. but im about to.

Wow, I'm surprised CJs wanted that much. They are not bad to install just take your time and make sure you have the right tools. Taping the oil pan is not difficult just make sure you have a NPT tap and a lot of grease in the flutes.

The hardest part about the pan is getting into position to do it. I had the car on a lift for that part of it and it took a bit of doin' even still.

The rest was a breeze. It's just bolts.

I still don't know how you punch the oil pan without it falling into the pan...?

The punch pushes a hole in the pan and the edges roll in. Nothing drops into the pan. The rolled edges are what is then threaded via the tap.

CJ's has good prices on some of they're parts, but they rape you on the cost of labor up there. Just take your time and all the info you need is on the net if your missing any. Oh, its not neccesary , but I would take the rad. out during your install. It will give you a ton more room to work with since this is the first itme around. As for tuning of the car you dont say wether you are going with the FMU or not. All I can say is that most tuners hate FMU's.

Funny part is I don't think CJs has a dyno. What kind of tune can they do? Adjust the belt tension, timing, and AFPR to 38psi? I could be wrong, someone let me know.

I was told by Brian at CJ's that you have to use an FMU and they take the car after instillation to Kauffmans in Dillsburg PA for the tune which I was told I could expect to pay anywhere from 300-500 dollars more for. I was under the impression if i got the right MAF and injectors, and fuel pump I wouldn;t need an FMU??? wtf anyone want to install it i'll pay ya with cash and beer LOL

It all depends. With the FMU you can get away with it. It's like a poor man's tune. Decent to get you to the shop but not great, IMO and many others', for the end-all be-all of your tune. Some people run it like that and never have problems, but I personally wouldn't.

Dyno time + tuning is expensive, 500 for a full tune with a chip is pretty good. The chip from SCT costs $375 on its own, and tuning time is often billed $100+ per hour.

What system is it? I put my A-trim on back in the day and it ran with the stock fuel system and no FMU like it was made that way from the factory. A/F levels were good, too, which were checked out before the actual tuning took place.

Are the blades straight or curved? Either way it may be fine for driving as long as you stay out of boost.
