wobble solutions for IRS?

Would a wobble in the rear at high acceleration be the cause of a bent axle shaft or worn out IRS differencial bushings for a 99 Cobra? Any other problems it could be? I have bushings would be around 40 bucks, but how much would an axle shaft cost and where is a good place to buy? Thanks.

i did get a 4 wheel alignment and it did nothing. i was accelerating like i would at the 1/4 track. my cobra only has 57K miles, so i don't believe the bushings are bad, but i wanted to get them anyways to help kill the hop. i called svt and they said i could have a bent axle shaft. it has been hit before, so i wonder if thats the cause.

U might want to take it to SVT dealer, and have them check for any dmged shaft or A-arm. Sound like you might have possible mechanical dmg

one guy said it could be bc of a wheel balance. i didn't think so, but could it? I mean, the wobble is so bad, that if i don't slow down, i'll wreck @ around 100mph.

btw..the car has been hit underneath before

just because you paid for a alingment does not mean you got a alignment

i have told you this once already. go back to the alignment shop and demand that your car be realigned in the rear. describe the problem. and make sure it';s setup in the machine as a cobr and not a gt. you want to watch or atleast get a print out. scan the print out and i will read it.

i have worked on these cars for a long time. and i have been a mechanic longer. i know what kind of hackery goes on out there.

it can deff be a balance issue with your wheels. it can show up some times at high mph. i would try and get them balance first or rotated the rear wheels to the front and put the front in the back take it out for a driver see if you notice a difference.

you're probably the only pats fan i like...thanks...i just hope cowher doesn't choke!

....ohh, the problem ended up being a broken belt in the rear tire. All fixed. Definitely some overreaction on my part.
