i just wanted to here what u all knw about the a4(R302), and the dart sportsamn, which would be stronger, which would require the most machine work, im looking to make a 327, and i would like a little more info or maybe some one has owned one or the other. darts page claims 1500 hp on said block yet i cant find any claims on the a4. dart sprtmn is four bolt on 2,3,4, i belive a4 is all 5 cant find info really dont have time either. well any input would be cool. thanks

The Dart Iron Eagle is good to 2000hp, the R302 is good to 1500hp, The Dart I.E. Sportmen is good to 1200hp, the A4 or new Boss 302 is good to 1200hp.

The A4 is just like the R302, 4 bolt mains on 2,3,4. The R302 is way thicker.

My R302 block cost $1650 and $645 to machine - meta-laxed, decked, honed, aligned, blueprinted to specs.

The Dart IE cost $2260 from adperformance.com plus machining and clearancing. The R302 is $1800.

There is a brand new never fired R337ci stroker on nmraracing.com with eagle 4340 internals with venolia 9:1 pistons, neutral balanced, AFR 225's, solid roller 690 lift.has a tfsr box intake, canton pan, scorpion rockers, ati super dampener, dampener and crank double keyed. $7500, negotiable, notchman1@msn.com

Now that R337 is a real nice motor and a great price.

I have a R336ci billet steel stroker shortblock, brand new never fired with Scat billet steel crank, Oliver billet rods, swain coated BME 9:1 pistons, neutral balanced, unassembled, $7000. good to 1500hp and 9000rpm.

If I might ask.... where did you purchase the R302 for 1600$?

The A4 is no longer made, the R302 replaced it.

I have never machined ANY ford block for $650, they tend to need a lot more then any DART block I have used. It also depends on exactly what you have done as well...

We've had no issues with the DART Sportsman with 1500HP, although when that HP range is desired I prefer a DART Iron Eagle.

As far as the 4bolt mains

A4, R302 and DART Sportsman 2,3,4
DART Iron Eagle, 1,2,3,4,5

I got the R302 block and had it machined by 2nd Street Speed in Perkasee, PA back in 2000. They r a Pro 5.0 sponsor with a 7 sec drag car.

Ford is releasing a new Boss 302 race block sometime in 2006 good to 1200hp.
